Introducing the Amplify Talent Collective
A new platform to connect companies with experienced HR and people leaders who can drive their business forward.
The past several months have been brutal for the tech sector. We’ve seen over 55,000 layoffs in tech alone, with likely more on the horizon as companies brace for a down market. These layoffs often have a significant impact on HR and people teams, particularly recruiting teams.
Having been through both sides of layoffs, I know how difficult these experiences are. My heart goes out to all of you who’ve been impacted by layoffs or find yourself looking for a job in this market, particularly as we approach the holidays.
What gives me hope in this particular cycle is the current attitude among the global HR community. In difficult times, we are often reminded of the Mr. Rogers’s quote, “Look for the helpers.” You don’t have to look far to find them.
Spend a few minutes on LinkedIn or Twitter, and you’ll see many posts from the HR/recruiting community offering help to those impacted by layoffs or looking for a job. Promoting layoff lists. Volunteering time to help with resume writing. Sharing resources.
I know it’s easy to feel hopeless when you’re laid off or on the job hunt. Please know that this situation doesn’t define you - as an employee or a person. Few will go through their career without experiencing this difficulty. You’re not alone.
I’ll continue curating and amplifying resources to support those looking for new opportunities, like this LinkedIn thread with hundreds of comments with companies that are hiring. In addition to sharing resources, I wanted to find a way to leverage my network and community to support the HR and people operations community who are seeking new opportunities.
Amplify has been building a new platform to help connect my network with employers, which was planned for launch in Q1 2023. We’re launching early to help those impacted by the recent layoffs, or who are just open to opportunities.
The platform will be managed by our Director of Operations, Janet Ciciarelli.
Introducing the Amplify Talent Collective
The Amplify Talent Collective is a platform that connects available talent with opportunities across the HR and people operations space, and is hosted on Pallet.
For Jobseekers:
With the Talent Collective, you’re in control. Accept or reject opportunities based on how they align with your interests. Here’s how it works:
Create your profile using the link below. You can make your profile public or anonymous/private. Your profile is hidden from your current employer by default. You can also hide your profile from specific companies.
If an employer views your profile and thinks you’d be suitable for a role, they will request permission to connect with you. You can approve or reject that request based on how it aligns with your interests.
If you accept their request to connect, Pallet will share your email with the company so they can contact you directly.
If you don’t want to create a profile, no worries. You can always browse job postings and apply to those that interest you on the Amplify Job Board. The job board includes roles posted directly by employers, as well as jobs we’ve curated for the community.
Eligibility: The Amplify Talent Collective is currently focused on HR and people practitioners with five or more years of experience.
The Amplify Talent Collective is focused on HR & people operations, but there are others for specialists. Recruiters: be sure to check out Hung Lee’s Brainfood Talent Collective and Growth by Design Talent’s Collective (for TA leaders). L&D professionals check out Offbeat’s L&D Talent Collective.
For Employers:
Hiring for HR & People roles? You can post your jobs and access the Talent Collective database at no cost through the end of 2022.
To post jobs and access the talent collective, create your company profile below.
To boost visibility, I’ll be spotlighting jobs and encouraging companies to recruit from the Amplify Talent Collective through my weekly newsletter and social media posts.
Please note: we’re shipping early, so we will iterate and optimize as we scale this together.
We hope you find this platform helpful. We’ll continue to explore ways to support those in the HR/people community impacted by the current economic conditions.
Hang in there, friends.
